      <image:title>Blog - Why Your X-Ray Doesn’t Always Explain Your Pain - Scientists looked at scans of thousands of people who had no back pain at all.</image:title>
      <image:caption>What they found was eye-opening: 37% of 20-year-olds already had disc degeneration 96% of 80-year-olds had disc degeneration Disc bulges were also extremely common — 30% of 20-year-olds and 84% of 80-year-olds So if your scan shows “degeneration,” there’s a good chance it’s simply normal age-related change — think of them like wrinkles on the inside — not a sign of serious damage.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Why Your X-Ray Doesn’t Always Explain Your Pain - Your story and physical exam tell us far more than a scan can. We look for things we can change; Strength and mobility, Movement patterns, Activity tolerance, Areas of sensitivity, Lifestyle factors that influence pain and Goals (sport, work, daily life). These are the things that matter most for getting you better.</image:title>

      <image:title>Blog - Why Your X-Ray Doesn’t Always Explain Your Pain - If you’ve already had imaging, we can walk you through it in simple terms: “These findings are extremely common for your age. Many people with the same changes have no pain at all. What we found in your physical exam is what’s actually driving your discomfort — and what we’ll focus your treatment on.” No fear. No overwhelm. Just clarity.</image:title>

      <image:title>Blog - Why Your X-Ray Doesn’t Always Explain Your Pain - The core treatments that consistently help people recover: ● Targeted exercise and gradual strengthening (the #1 recommended treatment) ● Education and reassurance ● Manual therapy to reduce short-term discomfort ● Activity modification, not avoidance ● A personalised plan that builds confidence in movement This approach works regardless of what the scan says.</image:title>

      <image:title>Blog - Why Your X-Ray Doesn’t Always Explain Your Pain - If there are red flags, unusual symptoms, or a recovery that isn’t following the expected path, imaging may be appropriate. Otherwise — if it won’t change the treatment — a scan usually isn’t needed.</image:title>

      <image:caption>If you’ve been told you have “degeneration,” “disc bulges,” or “changes” on your scan — or if you’ve felt scared to move because of what you’ve read or heard — you’re not alone. Many people are given information that sounds alarming but doesn’t actually reflect what’s happening in their body. A physiotherapy consultation can help you make sense of your symptoms, understand what your scan really means, and most importantly, guide you back to confident, comfortable movement. At Peak Performance Clinic, we’ll listen to your story, assess how you move, explain things clearly, and build a personalised plan to help you feel better and get back to what you love.</image:caption>

This includes: ● Force plates – to assess balance, jumping, landing and leg strength ● Hand-held dynamometers – to measure muscle strength in specific areas like hips, knees or shoulders Why this matters: ● We can spot weaknesses or imbalances that may cause pain or injury ● We can track your progress over time with real data ● It helps us personalise your plan and make sure you’re getting stronger safely It’s a bit like having a “strength fingerprint” — unique to you, and a powerful way to keep you motivated and on track.</image:caption>

ForceDecks are industry-leading force plates that measure how you move, jump, and land. <image:title>Blog - Why You Still Feel Tight (Even If You Stretch Every Day) - Stretching Isn’t Always the Solution When a muscle feels tight, our first instinct is often to stretch it. Weakness: Muscles gripping on for stability Poor movement patterns: Your body compensating for something else not doing its job Nervous system tension: Stress or poor sleep can literally make you feel tighter Overuse: Muscles that are overworked can feel “tight” because they’re tired, not short So if you're stretching every day but nothing’s changing — it might be time to zoom out and look at the bigger picture.</image:title>

      <image:title>Blog - Frozen Shoulder - what is it and how to deal with it. - Frozen shoulder, medically known as adhesive capsulitis, occurs when the connective tissue around the shoulder joint, known as the shoulder capsule, becomes thickened and tight. This leads to the formation of scar tissue, which restricts movement and causes pain. The condition progresess through three stages - freezing, frozen and thawing - each affecting your range of motion differently.</image:title>

      <image:title>Blog - Glute Activation - what is it and why is it important? - What are your ‘glute muscles’ and why are they so important? Your gluteal muscles consist of the gluteus maximus, which is the main muscle, and then the two supporting muscles, the gluteus medius and gluteus minimus.</image:title>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>

      <image:title>Blog - Glute Activation - what is it and why is it important?</image:title>
      <image:caption>What is glute activation? You may have heard the term ‘to get your glutes firing’. Well, glute activation is the process of engaging the glute muscles so that they can work properly. This is important because the glutes are responsible for a lot of movement in the body, including hip extension, hip abduction and rotation. Therefore, if the glutes are not activated properly it can lead to imbalances and injuries. Why is glute activation important? The importance of warm-ups largely lies with muscle activation. This is where your neurons carve a path from the muscle to the brain. With lesser-used muscles, these paths are less-reliable. Furthermore, when you, say, spend your entire day seated with your hips forward and in flexion, it takes more effort to activate these muscles prior to a workout. Why does this matter? Well, when you perform a repetition of a squat, you should be engaging your gluteal muscles to their fullest. Normally, the effort is spread proportionally to the body's need for the effort. When you have poorly activated glutes, you end up putting additional strain on the other supporting muscles as well as your joints.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - What is a Sports Massage? - Sports Massage is proven to reduce and release muscle tension, improve circulation and remove waste products such as lactic acid which are produced during high intensity activity. These in conjunction help to promote recovery and reduce the chance of muscle injury. Sports Massage is also beneficial in those who are prone to overuse injuries by helping muscles relax and recover before the next session. In addition to the physical benefits, a sports massage can also help to mentally prepare athletes for an activity or competition.</image:title>

      <image:title>Blog - What is a Sports Massage? - ROUTINE MAINTENANCE MASSAGE: A regular massage may be suggested by a physiotherapist depending on the individual's requirements for their sports and level of participation. It may focus on a particular muscle group to help maintain or improve range of movement and flexibility in any area of the body that may cause trouble or injuries and help to prevent them. Your physiotherapist will also give you stretches and exercises to help maintain the benefits (ie. increased range of movement and flexibility) between massage sessions.</image:title>

      <image:title>Blog - What is a Sports Massage? - MASSAGE FOR A SPECIFIC EVENT OR COMPETITION Massages before and after an event are used for specific purposes. Pre-event massage can be used alongside an athlete's warm up to boost circulation and reduce muscle tension, whilst also assisting with mental preparation. Post-event massage is used to enhance the body’s recovery process by helping to reduce muscle spasms and metabolic build up. Pre and post event massage can help a participant return to training and competition more quickly and reduce the risk of injury.</image:title>

      <image:caption>WELCOME TO PEAK PERFORMANCE CLINIC!! We are very excited to announce the launch of our brand new Physiotherapy and Sports Massage Clinic, in Long Bucky. Going and paying a ‘brand new’ business can feel daunting. How much experience do they have? Do they know what they are doing? They don’t have many reviews, they can’t be that good?1 Although the clinic is new to the area, the wealth of knowledge and experience gained over the past few years will be coming with us. Molly has experience working in the NHS across Neuro rehab, Cardiorespiratory rehab and Musculoskeletal. More recently Molly has been working as a private Physiotherapist in a clinic in Warwick where she is rated 5 stars! Since graduating, Molly has gained experience with a range of conditions and sports, as well a being the head of medical for a local women's rugby team!</image:caption>
